Kava (Piper Methysticum) is a tropical plant native to tropical islands like Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu,Tonga, the Solomon Islands, Hawaii, and others. It is a member of the Piperaceae (pepper) family, making it aclose relative of black pepper (Piper Nigrum).
There’s been an intimate connection between Kava and humans for centuries. Kava offered its human companions a source of relaxation and social lubrication. People living on these islands continue to gathereach evening to laugh, socialize, and enjoy each other’s company while drinking Kava.
Kava is used for both ceremonial and medicinal purposes. Kava is popular around the world today primarily for its powerful relaxing effects and its ability to alleviate stress and anxiety, helping people natural quality sleep.
